I've changed my dipped and main beam bulbs from the standard halogens to led style halogen to get the "led" look (6000k) but after riding the bike in the dark, I can hardly see anything (doh) I'm considering doing a hid kit conversion but I keep seeing adverts saying if you need a canbus equipped kit, is this what I need ? https://www.horizonleds.co.uk/xenon...otorcycle-hid-kit/h7-motorcycle-xenon-hid-kit https://www.horizonleds.co.uk/xenon...otorcycle-hid-kit/h9-motorcycle-xenon-hid-kit Has anyone got a hid kit and can vouch that it's worth doing ?
Yes I had a HID on my 2009 and also my 2013. I would recommend them for dipped but not full beam as the the start up time was too long for me. I just spent £20 or less on eBay for the 09 and someone happened to be selling a hid specifically for a non projector bulb when I got my 2013. I don’t believe you need a canbus compatible one for any 675.
What do you mean by the start up time ? Well to me it looks like a projector style headlight so surely it would be the projector style bulb ? Mines a 2009 Daytona
I think what Stu is referring to is the warm up time after pressing the pass and/or full beam button. It takes a moment to charge the ballasts and then for them to kick in the bulbs, same as when you first turn on the bike. FWIW you may be better off with some uprated halogens, I always loved the hid look but seen a few stories of people having issues with mot and my mate did as well. It’s a shame about the led bulbs as I was looking at those as an option so thanks for the heads up!
Oh I see.... Well when I say led, these are what I brought https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https://www.ebay.co.uk/ulk/itm/253653102273 https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https://www.ebay.co.uk/ulk/itm/323509763101 I do have a set of these which I might try and fit as these were good on my previous car https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https://www.ebay.co.uk/ulk/itm/273760398667 But my bike has its mot today so we will see how we get on
Let me know how you get on I fitted these as they were plug and play, slightly nicer colour than standard bulbs, but not exactly flooding the rod with light. Kept my main beam standard as I’m more concerned about the output than looks on this OSRAM COOL BLUE BOOST H7, halogen headlight lamp, 62210CBB-HCB, 12 V passenger car, duobox (2 units) https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B06XXGGQ8J/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_khR3CbE5V0EMK
Bike passed the mot but that could of been because I had a "friendly" mot place Once I've had a go at fitting these bigger led bulbs then I will update this thread
Beat thing after my many many hours of research is get a H7 to D2s converter. I bought these: https://www.hidconcept.com/products/h7-h7-to-philips-osram-d2s-d2r-hid-xenon-bulb-adaptors This allows you to fit a D2S bulb (ones all fancy merc’s and BMW’s use) in your low beam and will be best you can get other than pulling the lights apart and doing a d2s bi-xenon retrofit to have both low and high beams use a d2s but pricey and not simple. Id use a hylux 45w ballast from the retrofit source and u can get a wiring harness too from them. Hylux ballast comes in a pair they will sell individual so $45: https://www.theretrofitsource.com/amp-hylux-a0050-45w.html Harness has a 10 sec time delay to not wear out bulb: https://www.theretrofitsource.com/h7-single-output-motocycle-54789.html Go with a genuine philips d2s xenon but becareful many many fakes on ebay amazon etc so make sure its genuine. This philips xtreme vision gen 2 is best bulb out there at minute and powerbulbs authorised sellers: https://www.powerbulbs.com/eu/product/philips-xenon-x-treme-vision-gen2-d2s-single This will be more expensive but you wont beat the light output. The high beam just leave alone or upgrade the H9 to better halogen as for flashing etc the xenon wont fire quick enough. You will need 1 x 90 degree ballast adapter to fit under light cover: https://www.theretrofitsource.com/amp-to-d2s-ballast-adapters.html You dont need canbus either. That ballast provide 3800 lumens on a 4300k philips bulb which will be hard to beat. Thats as far as i have gone i have adaptors and rest still have buy but that will all work above, not cheap but being seen and seeing the road is worth it, all above will have discount codes so let me know or pm me for details ive researched this too much haha.
By the way those LED kits and bulbs use are using are utter rubbish and cheap crap please dont waste your money you will gain nothing except be worse off than oem lights.
I already have the led bulbs from a previous car and they worked brilliantly, However upon doing some research, the reason the led bulbs I've fitted have such a poor output is because the light that is emitted from them is not 360 degrees unlike a xenon bulb (d2s/d2r) or a standard halogen bulb So with this in mind, I'm more than likely going to go for a hid kit as the comparison on the light output between a halogen and hid/xenon bulb is alot and as the previous posts say, having a hid kit on the dipped beam is more than enough
Speaking from experience on my Gen2, you can run H7 in both low and high beams(no need to buy 2 different HID kits), and contrary to popular belief, you DO NOT have to take the nose of the bike off to install these.
