I am going to fit some led indicators and have been told I need a new relay at triumph they are £55 but I've seen them online a lot cheaper has anyone used cheaper ones or would I be asking for trouble, and merry christmas
you can fit a led relay and if you search can find them for under £10 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/4x-6-LED-Mini ... 19e6a2a860 or you could fit inline risistors to correct the flash rate http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BIKINGEAR-MOT ... 3f0ffe8b92
Aren't the led relays for specific models? Been told that 06-08 have the indicator relay on the left side under the fairing by the rad hoses? Does it work with other models also?
my 11 plate is fitted in the left side by the rad hose basicly a relay is a relay they may mount different but most are a universal fit aslong as the flash rate is right for led or standard type bulbs you can use from different bikes of hand i think the 1 i have is for a r1 but not 100% sure you will only need the led relay if you have fitted led indicators off coarse as they were not standard fit
Just had a look to see if I can find the relay there are some near the battery under the seat but how do you know which one the owners manuel tells you loads like how to ride the bike very useful lol . My bike is the 2013 street
not sure but it is possible the 2013 models allready have led indicators fitted hopefully someone who owns 1 can confirm this
Imo the triumph led indicators are worth the additional loot. They look great, are extremely visible from a safety perspective and fit perfectly. I found several dealers doing 20% winter discount on parts last Jan which made it doable for me. I think i paid £92 for indicators and relay kit. Transformed the look of my 08my bike. Might be worth a little wait and a ring around...
Not sure if you still need any info, but I fitted led indicators front and rear when i did my clear rear light and melotti tail tidy. Just needed two cheap eBay relays in the circuit, taped and tucked away underneath my pillion seat with the rear light block connector. Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk
Hello mate...the relay you want is prolly from a '96 VW Golf....they cost about six quid, but you have to have resistors in the line if you want to run LED's, otherwise they won't work right.
only 1 relay is needed what you have is proberbly inline risistors in which case you would require 2 1 on each side similar to the link below http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BIKINGEAR-MOT ... 3f0ffe8b92
Plug and play is the way to go. All you have to do is replace the O/E relay with one intended for the lower power requirement of LEDs. Mine was an e-bay special sold as a Yamaha fitment. Fitting resistors simply tricks the existing relay by adding a load to each circuit equivalent to the wattage of old style bubs and dissipating power to heat.
I finally got round to getting my LEDs today and the relay at triumph was priced wrong only £15 so happy days my tail today's fitted and ill hopeful sort the indicators tomorrow
Great to hear, be sure to post some pics up for us! If you have any problems, drop me a line, I muddled my way through without too much difficulty and everything still works (so far).
The indicators and relay were pretty easy only took an hour I think it's because I used all triumph parts so I didn't have to cut any wires they look great I'll put some pics on when I can get the bike out in the light.
sorry im confused does this mean i can simply buy a LED flash it relay from ebay does it matter what one it is as there are universal ones ie ( yammy, suzuki etc ) would they fit on the daytona 675 ? i know they moderate the flash times etc and understand they are need to counter the rapid flash of full 4 way LED indicators just unsure what one would be needed .. got the all in one led rear light unit and shark fin on the front
eBay item number 281158124932. Use this exact relay, change it for the stock one under left hand fairing. I had one on mine for 12 months with no faults and perfect flash rates, used with stock front indys and an integrated rear light and also with 4 led indicators on my current bike.
