Hey All, Does anybody know where I can get some laquer for decals? I'm doing the nose cone on my daytona this weekend and I need to make sure that the decals are laquered after I've stuck them on for a bit of extra protection. Had a snoop around triumph world but couldn't see anything there really any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Hows about that "Clear Protective Film" stuff? I've got some on my bakkie (sorry - PICKUP) and it is invisible, and really protects. BTW, it's also easy to remove if necessary!!
Sounds like a top idea buddy any idea about where I might go about procuring some of that fine stuff from?
google venture shield or buy it by the metre at the NEC. Bike show, pretty sure 3M will be there again this year.

When I did my R6 in virgin cup decals I used standard laquer. The trick is to let the base coat dry for a few days before you put the decals on, this ensures that the thinners has evaperated, otherwise you get bubbles under the decals. I did check with the decal supplier that they were suitible to be laquered over, but if you can't check, I would get some more of what you have and do a test on a scrap fairing or something.
Thanks dude I'll ask the question and see what happens the bike won't be exposed to the elements until end of March next year now so got plenty of time to get it done. This is the first winter I've owned a bike and now I have my winter hack sorted I'm really looking forward to getting stuck into the overhaul of the Daytona can't wait to see how sparkly and shiny she is in the spring
I bought the R6 as a tatty track bike to do up this time last year, did all of the work over winter and took my time. Really enjoyed doing it and it was good to be doing something to do with biking whilst the weather was too shit to ride. Heres a before and after pic:
Wow! She looks really amazing, well done you. If only I had the cash, room, patience and knowledge. Hats off mate!!
Yea I wish I had dun them my self first time round, but hay ho. Cheers guys. I can't take credit for the final paint and decals on the R6, my mate did that, he's a painter, and I would have struggled with the decals, they looked tricky. I did the prep and repaired the fairings which were in a pretty rough state. it was a nice bike but no wer near ad nice as a Tona on the track.
