I got to say the Daytona's are a cracking bike but when you start working on them you realise they are so flawed ... most of the important fasteners bolts etc. are either made of cheese or inaccessible without dismantling half the bike. Bad designs & poor quality finishings.
    Anyway ! .....

Decided to fit the 1050 throttle tube as it seems like a quick easy QA throttle option, got one and stuck it on without any problems apart from there wasn't quite enough slack available on the cables - it worked but was sticking, so I thought easy peasy I'll whip the tank & airbox off and adjust the lower adjusters.
Did that and the throttle was returning perfect, 100% spot on. unfortunately the throttle bodies had popped out of their rubbers (due to the shit design) so I had to sort that, then one of the trumpet screws / throttle threads was duffed so I had to re-tap & thread that, eventually got everything back together and started the bike but the engine was racing up to 3500 rpm - throttle worked but obviously a problem ...... hmmmm

So I think maybe the throttle bodies have come away from their rubbers again ? they only sit in by about 5mm which is shit - there is no proper locating lip ring or groove to make things simple ! the TPS hasn't been touched nor has anything else other than the airbox so I have taken it all apart again - run out of time to re-assemble tonight but has anyone else had any problems with the airbox / throttle bodies / engine racing following doing some work ?

Have you tried resetting the TPS with tune ecu?

    hi, thanks,
No, I haven't got Tune ECU setup - not got the data cable etc. but it shouldn't need resetting as all I've done is get some slack on the cables, the TPS is connected to the throttle bodies / butterflies so there's no way I have altered them - doesn't mean something has gone tits up I suppose :)
I have got the official triumph workshop manual (which is shit compared to others too ! piss poor pictures and descriptions) the only thing I can see is the lower clips are in different positions to what the manual says - I have put them back exactly as they were but the picture in the manual shows them differently ..... I'll stick them in as per the book tomorrow evening :-(
    bollocks !

  4. Sounds like an air leak to me, the throttles are a pig to seat until you get the hang of it. Lower one edge in first and then tilt forward to get the other edge in. Hard to explain, but you get a satisfying pop when they go in right!

yeah I am hoping so - I have had the bastards off before and they went back on ok - I am hoping I havent got any other issues !
I have been researching Tune ECU - it says it is only via bluetooth / android for my bike - being a later 2014 675R - how does that work then ? does it still connect via an ODB2 cable to the laptop then the app connects to it via the laptop ? sounds a bit strange - why not just run it from the laptop ? or is there a wireless connection I need to get ?
Anyone got Tune ECU running on the app ?

why are bikes getting so flaming locked down !??!

Have you connected the pipe work from the throttle bodies to the sensor that runs of back of the air box? Easy to over look when you are pulling your hair out

hi, yes, the thinner air pressure pipes that go into a splitter & sensor at the back of the airbox and the 2 large breathers into the airbox .... I rarely get wound up but I was proper angry with it earlier !! lost it ! swearing like a pikey :)
I just found an ODB2 cable with Micro USB adapter for Triumphs on eBay for £12 so bought one of those anyway .......... I might sell my tools and put the money towards some counselling :-0

Well, I stripped it all off last night, finished work early today and set about carefully putting everything back together with a fresh head on.

Looking at it today the carbs weren't sat fully into the rubbers, but I put it all back as it was - so they weren't sat fully in before ! I have noticed a few things on the bike that aren't 100% so I presume the previous owner did some DIY mechanics or following its last service it was rushed back together .... anyway with the help of a smear of Vaseline around the bottom of the carbs & fully undoing the clips and seating them correctly they popped in lovely - relief !
Put everything else back together and hey presto ! bike is running sweet as a nut, throttle is miles better now with the 1050 tube mod

I just stuck my new double bubble screen on as well ..... bike is now ready for the track !

It's amazing how much difference it makes being calm :)
