One of my biggest regrets when first getting into biking was not knowing what i NEEDED.

the kit you will need will be very different depending on what you use it for.

the only thing that won't change is the helmet.

    we need more info'!

Weekend summer riding. Been away from road bikes awhile.
I'm after jacket and a ce forcefield under armour.
I may up grade my two piece and helmet if I see something I like.

I was think BMF trade stalls but never been
What decent branded stuff because of quality.

  5. When I first started riding, I thought I bought the right stuff and what I wanted. Just a few months later I had gone off the kit and wanted new stuff. Personally I think leathers and kit are a big part of riding. It's part of the fun of riding and how you feel in your leathers, or textiles or whatever you choose is really important. Don't just get something because it's cheap, get what fits right, you feel looks good and most of all, what protects you well. Also, I find different brands fit each person differently. I had a dainese 2 peice that was good on the body but wrong on the legs. Now I have an Alpinestars 1 piece that fits perfect, also I have Alpinestars boots that work really well with the suit whereas the legs only dainese didn't fit in the boots very well I found.

I'm no stranger to bikes was after some good Web based suppliers for decent prices.

I've a husqvarna 310 for winter enduro and green laning and a 748r for track days but just brought a 675 for ride outs in the sun.

    Gratefully appreciated Red.

  9. Sorry mate. Didn't mean to sound patronising. Alpinestars and dainese do some reasonably priced one peice leathers. My Alpinestars orbiter is only £580 and is a really good suit and the dainese Laguna seca pro is £599.99 with on yer bike atm. They have a great shop to visit and also sell online through their website www.onyerbike.net

I love Furygan gear, but there were no suppliers up here. Ended up going to MCN bike show in Edinburgh and there was a supplier there selling off decent gear.

    No offence taken cna.

Thanks for the link I'll let you know how I get on.

  12. go to a bike show or a well stocked showroom and try on a few different things, i've got short legs and long torso so the RST gear fits quite well.
Then depending on your budget either buy new or look on places like here or ebay and pick up uncrashed 2nd hand stuff.

like most people, i bought loads of new gear when i first started and i don't use any of it now, so i wish i'd taken more time in working out what was right for me.
The only things i'd ever buy brand new every time are helmets.

I ride 90 miles a day which is mainly m23/m25 plus a bit of countryside if its a nice day and i have TCS sports boots, RST 1 piece leathers, knox under armour short, knox handroid gloves and a helite airbag waistjack. This is potentially overkill in some eyes but i don't get paid if i'm off sick so i need to be bubble wrapped!

sportsbikeshop.co.uk is great. Also I recently bought some Dainese leathers from motocard.com because their prices were so good and despite them not being UK based the service was very good.
