    Hello,
I have found a 2011 Daytona 675R for $10,600 at a Ducati/ Triumph dealership. I was thinking about trading my 2004 Buell Firebolt XB12R for it. I was thinking the Triple Speed but I don't like the headlights, I know I can change them but.

    Here is the catch...
It has never been sold/titled because it was the test ride bike. If I were to get it, I would be the official first owner and covered under the 2yr, unlimited mile, mfg warranty. Everyone know what u do on a test ride bike..

Do you guys have anything in mind that I should check or look for? Or anything else to my advantage to help lower the price??
Someone told me to replace the rectifier immediately. This dude had it go on him twice in 2yrs back to back. Once it killed the battery too.

  2. Reg/rec is an official recall now so will/should be done by the dealer.

  3. P.S. they are also not really a problem on the later models.

Hi there Trevdawg, the reg/rec issue has now been dealt with, as Matt says there was a recall and any bikes that were fitted with the unreliable RR's have had them changed or can have them changed foc by a Triumph dealer - he claims the price back from Triumph.

You're right in what you say, demo bikes are caned from the get go, but they're also normally loan bikes and free transport for the guys that work at the shop so its not all bad. There's also the issue that the tank sticker and the owners manual say 2 very different things about breaking the motor in, suffice to say that the motor is fairly robust unless someone has dropped down too many gears and over revved the engine you're unlikely to have major issues. The one place where you could get problems is the cam chain tensioner, the oem one isn't that good (like Hondas), and high rpm throttle shut offs can result in the cct failure. Get the shop to change it for a manual version if you're worried about it being a test bike, I'd also be looking for either money off due to ragged tyres and a free oil and filter change or the work done before I purchased.

Just to put your mind at rest, one of our members here had one of the original press test bikes that were used heavily with no problems at all, if the the press and regular track work for the next 6 yrs couldn't break it I doubt you can.

Hth, and welcome to forum. Happy hunting, DG.

  6. Reg Rec is sorted now; and I wouldn't worry about a press bike, if its anything like my mates one was it never used any oil! Maybe because it had been bed in the tough way!

The tank sticker is a generic sticker, Triumph just recommend to stick around the 4-5k mark but to avoid loading the engine.

My bike would have been worth 2,500, but I own 2000.

Now I found an 06 with 4400 miles but standard. Not an R.

Wouldn't I be able to put a quick shifter on it if I wanted to? Is the style the same as 2010?

  9. You can fit a quick shifter on it but not the triumph one.

    Well....
This place has a 2012 with no miles, standard edition, in red/black.

So I think this week I'm going to go back, and pick one up. I want the R but we will see.....

I wouldn't worry about the mileage on ex-demo mate.

My mate just bought a sulphur yellow ex-demo SE 2012, arrows and QS £6.5k. Jammy bugger. Nothing wrong with it. clearly well maintained.

Think of all the extra bling you are getting on the R version, Ohlins and brembos. Haggle the bugger. It's the worst economic crisis currently for many many years. It should be a buyers market. Lucky13 explained to me they have to shift the old stock before getting new stock. THe 2013 R is out so they need to get rid of it before they can get more new ones.

My 2011 675 was ex demo with 750 miles on clock had it 18 months never skipped abeat and I took it to a little over 15,000 on clock

Hubby's 2011 Zx10r is also a ex demo (we saved £2k buying the 2 demo together). His had 500 miles on it and its push 17,000k on click and again no issue apart from his clutch has gone but he trashes the ass of it pretty much every day for 28 days in a row when home from offshore

We would buy demos again no problem

My mate also has a 2009 D675 ex demo and its been fine to with him.

My new 675r we picked up on Thurday done 440 miles on it took it easy for first 100 then since then just rode it normal but just avoided red lining it.

Hubby has had heaps of new bikes , trashed the ass off them pretty much from word go and never had a problem.

If its a deal I'd buy it ;-)

Thanks guys. I got to try and haggle the price down a lil bit and try to pick it up on Wednesday. Even if I can't get it down. I think I will still pick it up

    Wow!!
Since I live in the states it would be hard to pick this up.
If I lived there I would be all over it.

  15. ah, didn't know you lived in the states...

Well I was going to go right after work today to get the R..... Of course it sold.

I can still by the 2012 standard but I'm not as excited.....

So now I will just go home and think...
