Just picked up the 06 Daytona from a dealers. All seems fine and runs ok. Upon checking around further noticed this tape/heat shield stuff by exhaust on RHS behind plastics. Is this standard or is it covering up some potential disaster that will cost me ££££'s? HFB
Yup that's standard, it's the same as mine (may 06) HFB, yours looks a bit tattier than mine, but it's the same stuff. It's the heatproof/reflective tape that prevents the exup servo motor from melting due to heat from the link pipe when you're giving her the beans! If you want a pic for confirmation no problem. I'll sort one out, just let me know, but really it's nothing to worry about. FYI there were a couple of recalls on the 06's, one for the air tube screws coming loose (new washers req'd) and one for a new sub-harness and relay for the fuel pump. I would check they are done if you are looking for something to worry over. Good luck, & hope you enjoy your new bike! DG.
Cool. Thanks guys, given me a bit more peace of mind. Thanks for the offer of pics DG but not required. Think bike has had couple of warranty jobs done from Rosners where bike was bought. Will check paperwork tonight. got given lots when picked up bike. Roll on Silverstone a week Mon. :0) hfb
he's having you on you have been sold a dud.as you seem a decent sort of bloke i will give you £500 for it out of the goodness of my heart cant say fairer than that
Oh my dear god!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Forgot to put the beer in the fridge! Oh got some on mine too!
Well just spoke to service dept at Rosner and he says there's no outstanding service bulletins showing for this bike bu can't categorically state that they've been done!! Is there a physical way I can look at the bike and see if these recalls have been done or not? HFB
Like Si I would think they've been done (as they claim money from Triumph for the work). But if you want to check, this is what you should find. 1, Intake air tube screws coming undone mod, Easy one to check, check the screws that hold both halves of the ram air tube together and the ones that lock it to the headstock (these ones especially) - if they are loose they need removing and refitting using loctite (a mild one like nutlock). If they are tight, leave 'em alone. After a certain frame no these were loctited during production. Anyone who has removed an airtube will testify to this fact, as the captive nuts in the plastic airtube assy normally get torn out on at least 1 screw during removal   .... Personally I would tab or lockwire them. 2, New sub-harness with relay for Fuel pump. Another easy one to spot - if you have the LH side fairing off. There is a little air valve doofer on a bracket fixed to the generator cover screws forward of the gen cover. The bracket holds a valve, (for the air flap in the ram air tube) the flasher unit, (I think) and a light grey relay ( this is the mod relay) if the light grey relay is missing, check the mod yourself with another Triumph Dealer. This mod was introduced to stop the fuel pump damaging the ECU when switching on the bike (amperage spike), as you can imagine, a relay is cheaper than a new ECU.... :? Hope that helps, this is all from memory when my bike was new, and me interrogating the Wksp Foreman (a bloody good bloke too ) so if I'm a liitle amiss please forgive or correct me - other members? These mods were introduced early on so I would think the previous owner would have been contacted fairly easily - unlike now where a bike may have had 3 owners and broken the chain of owner registration with Triumph. Cheers and good luck, DG
