It's just one of the negative quirks of bike forums, Sy...no-one ever posts a "WooHoo, my bike ran awesome again today!" type thread...consequently, only the less attractive points regarding ownership of any particular model, or brand of bike are ever brought into question. - Actually, come to think of it, that's really a positive point innit, wherein the other members can offer helpful advice, laugh at him/her, and praise the Lord that they don't have the same problem themselves.

  3. +1 to what D said....it is all relative.

However, I do feel that Triumph may be starting to shake off that old reputation of unreliability (I am tuching all sorts of wood here!)

  4. +1 Despite some moments... My bike has actually had zero issues in 13kmiles hard riding in all weathers. On my old D6 I would have gone through about 9 stators and several Regulators by now. I think Triumph have improved a lot. Joking aside on my travels I see more dukes on the side of the road than triumphs

  5. My brother and I bought brand new 675's a year ago. Both have had oil leaks, his crank case cover almost fell off, mine needed push starting twice last week even though I was riding it all day every way. I've also had dodgy paintwork and needed a new alternator.

Such a shame because I love my 675!!

  6. the thing that I am seeing is there is no consisitency with these issues.

Some poeple seem to have lots of things go wrong...some have few if any at all.

I had a small oil leak from the crank case nuts working loose...and my valve clearances are all over the place so it sounds like a tractor, but the bike hasn't actually ever stopped working on me (again I have everything crossed etc etc!).

  7.    Same here.. Sump bolt worked loose and dripped oil (now tightened) and sounds like a tractor until I get the valves looked at.

I think I've just been unlucky, mainly teething trouble I think.
The last few weeks have been trouble free, apart from drinking a bit of oil she's running sweet now

I to have had an oil leak, issues with cables to exup, misting headlight, paint rubbed off on tank by staples in the seat and indicator warning light stopped working but she has never let me down. Even left her for two weeks without being on a charger and she started first time. Love everything about the bike but i to have been thinking about changing when the warranty expires next july.

  10. had no issues with mine touch wood ;)

  11. Had mine new from June this year (2500 miles so far). At 1300 miles noticed oil was low (bearing in mind changed at 1st service). Took it to my dealer (who are excellent), they topped up with a specific amount and asked me to go back after 600 miles. When I did it had used all they had put in. The phoned Triumph and were giving authorisation to book it in and strip it. They booked it in, re topped up oil and off I went. Took it in at weekend for the strip this week. Spoke to dealer yesterday and it had used all the oil they had topped up with. They are keeping bike until next week so its back in time for TLive, but so I don't miss out on any weekend riding they are dropping off a Street Triple to my house Friday night. Has it put me off, no not at all. Bike has run perfectly apart from out drinking George Best and at least it will get sorted and if future problems arise Triumph are fully aware and therefore should not have any probs. Special hats off to Webbs Triumph of Peterborough especially Ryan and Ian in sales for sorting out the Street Triple and to Keith in service for wanting and pushing to get things sorted.
