    Hi all,

Got the bike in for a service tomorrow. Can't decide whether to get a TOR can put on or not whilst it's there. As of now I've done nothing to the bike other than some stomp grips and a single seat cowl. I guess to make the most of this (from my car tuning knowledge) I should also fit a free-er flowing air filter shouldn't I??? Or does it not work like that with bikes?

Have toyed with the idea of a 520 conversion to but Doubt the dealer will have the kit to do that whilst it's there. Pretty sure I'll have it whacked on whilst the bikes there if they have. Gonna need a big rucksack to bring all these bits home in that I'm getting changed :S

They're going to sort out the ECU light whilst it's there to. I think it's just the dreaded, sorry inevitable Exup valve.

    Your thought's gents, and ladies??

    Cheers

    Steve

Don't pay Triumph's extortionate retail price for the TOR  . Get a good one off fleabay, fit it yourself, and run it back to the dealer for the tune. ££'s saved for more goodies.

Or, spend the money saved on the can on a Tuneboy from Si and do the tune yourself?

Hmmm I have had the TOR fitted by Triumph and it was actually cheaper than i found one from anywhere else including felabay and that included a remap.

Yeah sorry forgot to say the dealer has a 2nd hand one he's gonna do me for a steal. He's got a carbon cap kicking about to. The bike will be getting the map done as part of the service so I guess it's a no brainer really.

Only question now I guess is if they have the kit to do a 520 conversion haha mind you I reckon that'll have to be a renthal set.

    Cheers

I totally agree D41 and if the bike was older and had a lot more mileage on I probably would with no hesitation. But as I got the bike with only 900 miles on and fsh I'd like to keep it up. It only has 3k on it now so is fast becoming a low mileage example and as I do keep her very clean and she is masterbike #49 I guess there's something to be said for keeping the service book stamped up.

Of course the other reason for me at the moment is time. My 9 month old son seems to tale up a lot of it when I'm not at work and my other half has got me gutting and re-doing the en-suite. I guess you could say I'm pretty busy. Still no rest for the wicked ;)

    Cheers

Well just back from service. ECU light was down to exup valve. Unfortunately the dealer didn't have the part on site to sort it there and then but are going to do it under warranty. Just means another trip back/excuse to get out on the bike lol.

I did get the TOR fitted and bike mapped. She pulls much Stronger now all the way round and seems to have a chunk more midrange. As they say it's all good. Bike feels like new again. Everything all super slick. Most impressed. Been a while since I've got out on the bike and it felt great. I forgot just how much I enjoy it. Just wish this bathroom would do itself now so I can get out on the weekend haha.

  8. SteveH, I remember the difference when I first had the TOR can and map done, it was like a different bike all together and the sound is so much better - especially when you've been giving it some 'welly', change down and get that lovely 'gurgling' sound and a few 'pops' :D

How much do you pay for a TOR? I really fancy a 2 brothers but they are the same price as an Arrow i.e. not cheap

I think most all dealers have them on special now as the new model is out so most all of the stock of parts they have left for the 06-08 bikes seems to be going cheap(ish).

They did me a really good deal today, I got the can, and carbon end cap fitted whilst the service was being done, and as the remap is part of the service I didn't get charged for fitting or mapping either. All in with a full service it's cost me just shy of £340 today (plus the VAT). Thats for a full service, TOR can, end cap, and they've booked on the parts to get my exup valve done under warranty. That would've also been done today if the parts were in stock. Can't fault the guys at all. Had all the work done at Bulldog in Twyford.

I have a friend with a 2bros pipe on his Blade and TBH although it looks nice and is considerably lighter than the TOR, following him the note from his tailpipe (and yes I know it's a flat 4 so will be different to a 675) is dull & flat. It gave me a headache to be honest lol.

Fishcake - I'm really quite surprised at just how much difference it's made to the bike. I mean obviously there's the noise it makes, which like you say is pretty intoxicating. But the thing that surprised me most was the fact as I was nailing it home (with a rucksack on with the old can in) the front wheel was starting to lift in pretty much every gear. The bike pulls much stronger right throughout the rev range. Isn't half as breathless at the top end and just charges through the revs. Only thing is I found I was just running out of road quicker than before. Can't wait to get on a ride out with all the guys I ride with now as they all have litre class sportsbikes so it will be interesting to see how the 675 compares now.

    Cheers

Hi Steve, thanks for the info. I have had a look on the Triumph website and I can only find the Arrow on there. I will ring the dealer tomorrow to get a price. I was quoted nearly 500 quid for 2 bros fitted!

No problem. I guess Triumph have taken the parts off their website as they aren't expecting to sell many more TOR cans for the 06-08 bike and it doesn't fit the 09 model. Some dealers still have stock though so worth ringing round. Your in a great position to bargain on price to as it's essentially redundant stock for them I guess, so they may just want to move them on rather than be stuck with them. £500 for a 2Bros fitted seems awfully steep, for that money I'd go for the Arrow as it was designed specifically for the 675 and had a specific map for it developed by the manufacturer. FYI I was quoted £450 fitted and mapped for the Arrow for my bike by a dealer, hence why £500 for a 2Bros seems steep to me.

Yes mate I did find 3 digits appearing all to quickly on my little excursion home. I think the lasting memory of my first ride with the can though will be struggling to keep the front wheel on the ground. Takes me back to being a skinny 17yr old riding an RD350LC, always struggled to keep both wheels planted on that too hahaha.

    Cheers
