Anyone else doing this? I know it's not the gp circuit but I am really surprised that silverstone isn't more popular.
The only time I got on the track at Silverstone was with CSS. I was appalled that it was not the actual main circuit, but a completely separate circuit called Stowe that was 6 left handers and 1 right handed with a massively wide strip of overbanding on the entrance to the left and exit of the immediately following right.
It's the international circuit, half of the gp circuit basically I guess, it's clockwise as well so mainly red handers. I did it last year for my first track day and loved it, the track was great, wide with lots of run offs (good for me lol) and the facilities are top notch too.
They have two circuits on the main track and the little stow circuit inside it all. I remember way back when, my first meeting with Steffy we did the stow track, it was great fun, you get to do the same corners over and over again, good practice, before you forget it ha ha, where as the main track does take sometime to get around. I like the track myself All of them.
I've done the GP Circuit... and on a 675 I was getting bored halfway down the long straights. I don't think its a great Bike circuit.
I love both, they're fab. Unfortunately working that day so a no go for me (plus already allocated all my track day pennies this month). Have fun.
Might be coming along to this after all, work has changed so I can swing a day off. Won't be riding though as lending my bike to the OH for the day, he has to ride that day and as were off to Anglesey that Thursday where he's racing at the weekend we don't want to take the risk of something happening to his bike and mucking up the race weekend so he's on mine. So hopefully a nice day mooching around the pits in the sun for me
Well, I did my pit mooching today. Really lucky with the weather, few damp patches in the 1st session, then lovely and dry. Surprised how few people were there, the group that my OH was in only had 15 in it, the others didn't seem much fuller. A well run and a very friendly day hosted by the Silverstone guys, no riding for me as I had leant my bike to my OH, he hasn't ridden it for a couple of years and really loved it, and like a good lad brought it back each session with the only detriment being a few more flies and slightly more worn tyres. Amazingly people seemed to get puffed out really quickly, quite a few went home after the 1st session after lunch and by the last session there were only 5 customers to go out in Paul's group, how mad is that!!!! So overall a good, chilled, pleasant day.
Yes Trouble I did 3 silverstone run days last year and they were great. Last one was 7x 25 min sessions and it was so quiet especially later. Hope to do one this year too.
Thanks for the write up Trouble, shame you couldn't ride as well if it was that quiet. :? Is there something wrong with Hollywood's Yamaha.? Did BigMac make it there too? -it sounded like he was interested originally.
Nothing wrong with the Thundercat at all, in fact just the opposite, she's all prepped and ready for racing at Anglesey this weekend. So I suggested that rather than risk any incidents with her and ruin our race plans that Paul used mine today as he had to ride, just in case anything happened.
