164 isn't crap, just maxed out my STR at 142, little incline there was, i'm thinking maybe 145 on the straight and level
was bored last night so thought if see if I could manage better than the 164mph I had previously done!.. Pretty happy with the effort Bike only has a TOR can and myself weighing bugger all!
I've never seen a 600 quoted as having a top speed any higher than 165 so slightly over reading. Also bearing in mind an R6 is faster top end and they won't even do 170.
Really??? Iv seen 174mph on my 675r with arrow can, my mate with a 2011 zx10r can confirm, the m5 at dusk is lovely lol... Saying that coming home from western the other night I couldn't get it past 169, but it was a hot night and no-where near as cool as wen I hit my 174.
I would be suprised if a 675 will hit 160mph with standard gearing. That's measured speed not what it says on the speedo.
There's so many variables to take into account with maximum speed runs...temp., altitude, how the engine was run in (or not!) ...the power the engine is putting out (Sport Rider's last test of a 675R found the bike to be down 5HP at the wheel compared to the last bike they tested), how many miles are on it, rider aerodynamics....the list is endless. Although I admit to having had my bike hit it's top speed just the once on a public road, it REALLY is not worth it guys......be careful out there.
On standard gearing the maximum possible speed should be around 153mph. ~12700 rpm / ~1.8 primary drive ratio / ~1.1 6th gear ratio = 6464.1 rpm. 47 rear sprocket / 16 front sprocket = 2.9, so 6464.1 / 2.9 = 2227.9 rear wheel rotations per minute. Supercorsas = 180mm * 0.55 ratio = 99mm height, *2 = 198mm, + (17inch rims * 25mm) = 623mm total diameter. Diameter * Pi @ 3.142 = 1.95 meters rear wheel&tyre circumference. 1.95meters * 2227.9 rpm = 4233 meters per minute. 4233 meters per minute / 1600 = 2.64 miles per minute. 2.64 * 60 minutes = 158.4 miles per hour. When I do it on the calculator without losing the precision on those numbers I get 153mph. To get to 170mph your tyres would have to be about an extra 3cm deep which seems like alot!
It's extremely doubtful, yes. Watch WSBK, 205mph...but a road going ZX10R/BMW/R1 etc will do 170/180 tops, just because the speedo says so it doesn't make it so, unfortunately.
Yeah that 173mph is standard gearing, I think everyone knows in reality it is a lot less than stated. My dad managed 175mph on his old ZX6R B1-H... In 5th! Although mental bikes they were that just isn't 600 capable..
These'd have to be on the road for the most part, certainly here in the UK there's not many tracks you can hit the other side of 155 on unless you're a pretty serious rider. I'm not one of those, although I like to think I know my way round a track, I've a GPS verified 138 from round Donington last tuesday, running in the inters. Take Snett and SIlverstone out of the equation and I seriously doubt you'll be seeing 150 anything on any track in the country, unless it's a straight drag strip/runway. I don't know about you lot, but runways aren't what I bought my 675 for!
According to my Pirelli app I managed 187mph at donington on Tuesday! Haha think it's safe to say that apps quite optimistic
