Isn't the speedo on 2011 models digital as its read from a sensor rather than a rotary cable? If so why would anything other than riders weight, seat position, streamlining, incline/decline, riding toward/away from the wind, gearing be of any consequence to the final speedo reading on the clocks?????
because the sensor takes its feed from the sprocket? I don't know about the '11 models but unless it takes its feed from the wheel itself, then it'll always need to take into account sprockets etc. Riders seat position etc is not affecting how accurate the reading is, just if it can get up to the big numbers!
Do you really need to do that? Just do what I did... run it up to the rev limiter in 6th and look down at the speedo!
was haring down my usual top speed stretch this morning and the speedo was indicating 160 which i always thought was pretty much the limit but then about 2 seconds later it suddenly jumped to 163 any ideas why this might have been?
 Obvious.! An accumulation of dirt momentarily effected the chromasity of the paintwork, making your red bike slightly more grey.!
alternatively the speed i was going removed all the grey matter from the paintwork and returned dit to its usual faster red
Both of you are wrong, the bike was evidently so shocked at going at that speed that it turned white for a moment, hence the faster speed.
 I think you got your chicken before your egg there mate, if you think about it.? ( :? That's not like you!)
