Which do you reckon would be more fun on the track, speed, handling, cornering, gadgets, power etc?

2013R....cheaper to crash, better support for parts

  3. Personally I wouldn;t have either, way to expensive for a track bike.

£5k gets you a good old shape 675 with all the bits already on.

  4. 899 but if wait until the 899 trioptions cup finishes this season and get one cheap

  5. I bet the 899 running/servicing costs as a trackbike will be astronomical. Are you changing again FI :). Or just adding to your collection

  6. Seriously the days of having issues getting Ducati parts are long gone!

I would say a 2013 675r personally for the track, the 899 is lush but it is another £2500 and that's a years trackday entries paid for!

  7. See if there is anyone with a track 899 to try. U know what the Daytona is like but u might be more able on the 899

    S1000rr ;-)

  8. i can't wait to try my s1000 track bike out soon

  9. Me too ;-)

    And my R6 too

  10. Yam r6 is going to be a triple in 2015 ish... that will make it interesting. ..
Wobbley you are going to love it. ...s1rr are a sick bike. But get ecu flashed with race map. Better traction control. ....

I do love my 675 track, but I'm in lust with the 899. Realistically I'm not that interested in riding on the road so track is where I am. I want to race the 400 as I have more chance of riding that to its limits.

So ex 899 race bikes end of this year?? Then it's a no brainer I'll get one of them :)

    This!

  16. If you can't afford to crash a track bike and walk away from the wreckage then you can't afford a track bike. You can really total a bike on track!

if you roll up at a track day with an 899 id imagine people would expect great things of you (i know i would - all the gear no idea etc....)

are you ready for that? :D

Hahaha I'm tough skinned ;) and it would just encourage me to get faster and better.

If the weathers good I'll be up for snetterton in February as I need to try the 400 on the track, and I'd like out again before Almeria in march.

Hope u get the s1000 built soon, be good to all be out on track as a group again. I can see if all my teaching and track days have paid off if I can keep up :)

If there are race bikes at the end of this year then I will trade up my 675 for it. I'm guessing they would be about 9/8k?

I'm just not interested in road riding anymore, and I have my Dark as my road bike and as it's customised to my Lucky 13 so I won't sell that. It doesn't make sense to get another road bike but I really want to have a 899 so if there are ex race bikes that would be perfect. :)

Saying all this I really should get a job now as I haven't worked since sept so there will be no 899 until I do ! Think I might have one to start next week :)

  19. I personally think the rear shock may be limited on the 899 for track; it's very capable on the road but maybe a Ohlins/Nitro would have more adjustment for track.
