Hi, I have a trackday on Tuesday (Brands GP) not sure what the dB limit will be? someone said 101? So I was willing to remove my TOR can and refit the standard. Only my bike has 53K miles now and I can't get the TOR can off. :? I've removed the seat fairing, the number plate hanger which required removing 4 x 10mm bolts on the sides, the heat shield, which required removing 4 x 10mm bolts on the top. I've removed the 12mm bolt at the top which seems to be the only one supporting the can and I've loosend right off the exhaust clamp to the mid section pipe. I've hit it a few times with a hammer and it won't budge! so any tips to remove the TOR can? or any tips how to baffle it in time for Tuesday? or any reassurance that it will definietly pass the noise test? So, how did you get on mate ??? Unrelated, but... I saw this when I stopped for some groceries on the way home the other evening, and couldn't help thinking of a certain much loved member of our favourite forum...: (It only showed a paltry 27k on the clocks though. "Lightweight".!)
looks like a decent rgv that just in nead of a good clean brings back memorys i done a few miles on thease things 20 odd years ago great litle bikes wasnt too keen on the rgv 500 mind full stan stephans tunned the power delivery in the wet was well lets just say scary
To bring this back on track Pics above were the reason it was so difficult to remove the exhaust. The gasket had become welded to the exhaust & the pipe. The solution was to turn the hammer around! and lever it off - much more effective. Anyway, with the standard can on it didn't sound much different to me. It was blowing a bit from the join as I just left the gasket as it was (in case I put the TOR back on ) and used some holts exhaust sealant. Got to the trackday and literally while waiting in the queue for noise testing my dash went blank as my bike continued to run, so the backlight was on but no LCD readouts & revs fixed at idle. Told to rev it to 6500, I told him rev counter doesn't work, so he told me just to rev it & he would tell me when to stop. I cautiously revved it to about 3000 & he said don't bother it's so quiet it doesn't matter! Back to the garage & I changed the fuse for the indicators so bike was all working again. Stupidly I forgot this had happened before - was a cable coming off the horn and shorting the circuit so I didn't fix it til the next day :roll: spent the day replacing fuses and running with no clocks.
