What happened was that a technical official got over excited when they saw unmarked pistons in Hutchy's bike during the post race inspection. The inspection is done in the presence of the other teams, so Dunlop's people get a bit upset as their bike is disqualified for illegal parts and Hutchy's has suspect parts fitted but doesn't. The technical official later checks the regulations and finds that the unmarked pistons are OK after all. Regarding the senior. Running a superstock engine in the BMW against a superbike powered one was always going to be an uphill battle. If Tyco as the official factory team can't secure a better superbike engine than Dunlop's team then that isn't Dunlop's problem its Tyco's. And for the record during practice week engines are not routinely checked for anything other than safety issues. They are only checked for illegal parts with 1st 2nd and 3rd places in the races and a number of random bikes. The other supersport bike that was disqualified was a 750cc and got the fastest speed down the Sulby straight. Both Hutchy and Dunlop are hero's in my eyes but the situation should have been handled better by all concerned.
dunlop qualified fair and square in all other races other than the 1 he was disqualified in so no problem with him in senior
All the shenanigans aside, I can't help but admire Dunlop's pace in the senior - the mind boggles. Hope Dunlop vs. Hutchy vs. Harrison is the shape of things to come.
even if dunlops bike was 100cc bigger than every other bike raced he still put the lap time in which is the fastest ever and as you say it was outstanding and deserves respect from fans and fellow racers a like
