Bit of background: Today I took my 675 & Honda 400 to the track to try them out in anger as the 675 is still being bedded in after being rebuilt and the Honda hasn't been ridden for over a year. We had 5 x 15 min sessions today and did the first 3 on the 675 and fitted the camera for the last session but the battery was flat. I recharged it via the car charger and it was ready for the last session on the Honda - and this turned out well as I did 3 seconds quicker than I managed on the 675 Most track day organisers insist on no overtaking on the first 2 laps until the green flag is waved as this allows folks to pick up the pace etc... My clip starts just before the green flag and goes on for a few mins - enjoy my 22 year old bike!
You have to, these bikes are best home on the track and I surprised a few folks yesterday with my old bike
Makes me want a track only bike. Do you take your 2 strokes on track too OS2? I'm giving serious consideration to an RGV or RS 250, if not a 400. What's your (and other people with experience of both) thoughts on the pros and cons of 90s 250s vs 400s as track only tools?
Sadly I don't have any 2 strokes as Im still on the lookout for a decent one but my experiences of taking a 400 are positive ones, they really are. My 400 choice is a the Honda NC35 / RVF400 as it has a sweet V4, 400cc motor which revs forever and spares are easy enough to find too. (I have 3 of these bikes, one track tool, one road bike and the other is a working project Apart from the tracks with very long straights my 400 can hold its own on the shorter tracks but I'm not a 100% aggressive rider as I want to drive home afterwards but it's an old school bike with excellent pedigree that goes / sounds rather well
