Thanks, I wasn't sure how it'd look on the bike but I'm really pleased.

I got it from here, it was in stock so arrived within a few days-

  2. I swapped the clip ons over, left to right and inverted them. Amazing difference and a lot cheaper than Heli bars!

Oxford grips are nice but don’t trust the controller, mine no longer turns off in battery saver mode (even when selected!). Note to self, Must fit a relay!

Not the best photo but fitted the OEM datatool alarm to my daytona.

Heard mixed reviews about it's performance but being plug and play I can easily remove it if I have any issues (false alarms, battery drain etc).

For £100 brand new I thought it's gotta be worth a try purely because it'll pay for itself over a few years with the insurance saving. 20220116_134548.jpeg

  5. It is a battery killer but if you know it’s gonna sit for more than a month. Plug the bypass in till ur ready to go out.
I have an apple air tag in mine too. So always have a level of security.

Thanks for the heads up, usually if the bike is gonna be sat for more than a couple of weeks I hook it up to my CTEK charger anyway.
I've got the bypass plug if needed though, ridiculous that you're supposed to send it off as part of the alarm install.

Well I've done lots of quotes online, and for me the price from nearly every provider drops £30-£40 from just adding that the bike has an alarm (Datatool S4 red).

  9. A couple of small unfinished jobs while the weathers still s###e.
Did the oil & coolant change just before putting the bike away last year and forgot to do the final top up.

Had to remove half the fairing to check the radiator was still brimmed and top up the expansion tank, then tried to do something with the horn that was sounding even more pathetic than usual, as they've left absolutely no play in the wires ended up removing the LH fairing as well to work on it. Adjusted the setting screw and while it was hanging free got it much louder than before but annoyingly despite having all the correct rubber bushes/washers etc it always dropped by about 50% after mounting, so ended up slightly better but not great.
Even though I've probably removed the fairings at least 10 times over the years its still a bit of a faff:mad:
Always check the Reg/Rec connectors if I have the fairings off, all still clean with original grease and no signs of overheating.

Then I thought I'd have a go at the clutch cable, since having the Thruxton I've always noticed how much heavier the Daytona clutch feels despite being a very similar clutch (but half the engine size), I think the Thruxton maybe has more "assist" than the Daytona in the slip/assist function.
I know modern Teflon lined cables don't require lubrication and I'm assuming thats the type we have, but I thought I'd remove it for the first time in almost 9 yrs and flush it through with WD-40 more to clean out any crap, rather than for lubrication.

Very easy to remove even if I didn't have the fairing side off, hung it upside down as there was a bigger opening at the bottom, and sprayed the WD into a homemade funnel, didn't run down anywhere near as quick as I thought, must be a close fit in the sleeve, so left it for a few hours and eventually started coming out really black at the other end.
Does feel noticeably easier now, and I don't think its just placebo effect. To be more scientific I should have measured the pull force before & after, but measuring it with some fishing scales against the Thruxton now they both read the same about 4.3 kg, like I said there was a big difference before so I'm counting that as a success:)

Will probably tax one if not both next month so fingers crossed we get at least a few reasonable days.

Finally finished off all my little jobs I've been periodically sorting over the winter. Fitted Oxford sport heated grips along with 1050 throttle mod (not as easy as i thought) and R and G lever guard (for if I do any potential track days).

Also picked up a second hand triumph quickshifter so while I was in there fitted the racetorx shift support at the same time.

Took off my rather tatty and tired looking tail tidy and replaced with a new one (unbranded but cheap and good quality on the face of it) and also fitted an R and G toe/lower chain guard.

Can't wait for the spring weather to show itself and I can get back out on it now. 20220223_112318.jpeg 20220301_213030.jpeg 20220301_213041.jpeg 20220301_213050.jpeg

@R4CKS675 You may want to check the coolant hose, that runs down past the rear sprocket.
There have been a number of instances in the past where owners have run their bikes without the front sprocket cover, and because that also removes the location channel that protects that hose & cable, those have been found to rub against the chain if not restrained.

Cheers for the heads up. Front sprocket cover has been reinstalled, just got the pic before I put it back on as it basically covers the whole shift support once it's back on (annoying as I bought red to tie in with other elements on the bike and add a bit of bling as I'm a bit of a tart like that lol).

Fwiw I brought a cheap front sprocket cover specifically for my bike when she's in track setup.
I cleaned it thoroughly. Then I glued it on the inside where the channel baffle meets the outer.
When that was hard I trimmed it down, so that I can access my rear sprocket (to change drive sprockets ratio) without the cover needing to be removed. Most track bikes run without the cover for that reason, but my trimmed cover means that the pipe & cable stay protected.

A similar approach may help to accentuate your bling.?

  15. With the 1050 throttle and quickshifter it should feel like a new bike.
Love the quickshifter on the Daytona, especially combined with the Arrow, works at nearly any speed , and makes the bike feel noticeably faster being able to keep the throttle pinned.

Yeah thoroughly looking forward to getting out on it now. Had a few issues with the 1050 throttle and no play so hoping the grooves I've cut in it to create some play don't counteract the purpose of the mod, we shall see.

  18. Made the most of the sunshine for my first proper ride of the year, took the Thruxton out as I've been struggling with lower back pain recently and I thought the Daytona may be a step too far at the moment, although it would be a lot lighter to push around:p
Surprisingly had less pain on the bike than just sitting in a chair or in the car, although the most pain was paying to fill the tank:mad:

    MOT’d the Daytona this morning.
12 miles since the previous one… garage round trip

I was sure i took it out last year, but obviously not, must have been the year before haha.

Will give it some love this year, and even the Mrs said she might use it this year! :)

  20. Wow, I felt bad last year only doing 800 miles, versus about 5000 on the Thruxton , gonna try and redress the balance this year.
