If it's any consolation, I don't think my back wheel ever looks as clean after my detailing as yours does there.!
Insured the bike today - can't believe how much it has gone up compared to last year. This includes ringing around and using some of the comparative sites. Ended up going with Bikesure.
I didn't have too much trouble with the triumph but the CRF 250 went from £114 last year to wanting £394 this year. Ridiculous. Searching around got that to £304. Going in the huff, reducing annual mileage to 4000, taking off pillion cover and accepting a £400 excess got it to £189. Bought via topcashback got me a £22 rebate. And a few avios points. I fear the theft profile and greed are the driving factors.
ITs crazy what they are asking at the moment but you have to pay for it so just have to grin and bear it
Or notify a bike or two off road and tell them to find someone with better nipples to milk! I'm not signing up to any more inflationary practices
Technically it was Saturday but loads going on - dropped it off with No Limits for a trip to Portimao - first time on slicks, new bike, escape the June cold & 1.5 days after chilling as well
Not work on the bike but whats the next most important thing after your motorbike, yes, where its kept Garage hasn't had any major work done since it was put up about 15 yrs ago, only a basic pre-fab concrete panel and the roof leaks a bit in heavy downpours. cleaned off all the moss and dirt, kneeling on wooden planks moving along a few feet at a time, sealed panels with sikagard, tightened all the panel bolts, sealed all the overlapping joints with gutter/roof sealant, repaired a few cracks with flashband tape. Next all the wood across the front facia and along the side edges will be stripped off, will run flashband tape all the way along the sides before fitting the new wood, there was just an open gap under the existing wood. Not very exciting pic
Pretty cracking backdrop, to be working against Wobbley'. -I just hope the wind wasn't howling round you, like it has up here recently.
Yes. not a bad view, looks much better from the top of the garage than my bungalow to be fair Another full day today but doesn't look much different though, stripped the rotten wood off both sides, primer applied then flashband tape over the gaps, new wood fitted on the left, have to use the other boards to work off as I've no access to that side, everything takes 10x as long dragging the boards and tools up and down the roof. Made two rookie errors, left a piece of wood on the floor with a nail sticking up, then kicked over a small tin of creosote all over my nice clean roof panels
Just to update this from june last year, as suspected the noise was from the new chain/sprockets and replacing the almost new JT front sprocket with a Triumph oem has got rid of the noise completely. Not sure why as I've used JT sprockets before with no issues and they are running perfectly fine on my Thruxton, both the JT and Triumph sprockets have the rubber 'damper' so no difference there.
Roof finished with a new facia across the top and improved weather strip along the bottom of the door, Still need to repoint the joint between the panels and the floor inside but have to give my knee's a break first.
Technically Sunday - but packed her up after 3 days nipping round Portimao on slicks for the first time - even a fried clutch pack & a trip in the recovery trailer of shame didn’t dampen the mood for too long - luckily for me someone had a spare 675 set & I only missed three sessions. Best Euro track destination - brilliant track, great beaches, food & company
Picked her up from my local race shop REPS in Caldicot after dropping it off on the way back from Portimao - clutch issue fixed/plates replaced (and they showed me how to measure/adjust it correctly), oil leak traced & fixed on engine cover gasket , road tyres put on, stuck exup valve removed & bike remapped to get rid of the lumpy bits - sure I’d be 5-10secs a lap quicker now it’s back to full health & actually getting 113 at the back wheel again - and constantly… Wallet certainly is a lot lighter lighter, but happy to support an independent occasionally for a good going over/remap & especially one that has great mechanics, races at the TT & Manx GP & fitted my bike in at extremely short notice
Had a little date night/bike night with the other half and on the way the bike decided to create a moment where one of the radiator hoses decided to touch the new headers, next moment a bit of smoke and some coolant on the floor.... We decided to head home, thankfully waterless coolant didn't leak out too much more and made it back to the house, spoke to the guys at AS3 performance who shipped out a replacement hose, fitted it today and made sure its not touching. And yes, it was caught on camera, so here's the link to the instagram post containing the very amusing and amazingly well timed moment the hose gave up https://www.instagram.com/reel/C8sUK6IoIJj/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link&igsh=MzRlODBiNWFlZA== So enjoy
While I had all the fairings off I thought I would see to the cracks - main area of concern was on the upper right hand fairing: Dremmeled out the cracks and filled in with the plastic powder stuff - will sand down tommor and get some paint ordered. Outside Inside
That looks a decent job @gninnam . Well done. The panels seem to be getting hard to find now. Hope you're nearly there. Did you manage to find a mirror?
Thanks - ordered the paint which should be here at the end of the week so for the weekend I will be sanding it down and hopefully painting them. No luck on the mirror as yet.
Got the front subframe welded together last week: Fitted to the bike: Front nose cone etc mounted back: Next week I will sand down the welds made on the side fairing, spray it and get it mounted then test that all is good. (still looking for a righthand side mirror). Cheers
