No mate, decided to go the other way, going to swap out the std 4mm one for a 2 or 3mm to compensate for the 180/60 profile rear, feels like it's nosediving already

  11. Not in the post exactly but I was going to buy a MK3 Mondeo ST 2.2 diesel, always liked them, but the insurers wanted £3000

0 no claims bonus and a claim for an accident last Jan on my tiger 800 and a claim 7 months later for the same bike getting stolen didn't help matters so I went and bought a touring bike.

It's a Triumph Sprint ST 955i on a W plate, lol. It goes really well and needs nothing. I'm off to Scotland on it on the 1st August to do the North Coast 500 over 2 days. I know people do long distance on STRs but bollocks to that. I want wind protection, heated grips, luggage and an armchair-like seat, lol. It's bloody comfy and the engine is great for the motorway stints. I was looking for a bike to use over winter as the STR is my baby, haha. Oh and it cost me £54 for the year fully comp.

Nice tony, how much was the sprint if u dont mind me asking?

  13. Got it off eBay, I won it in last 10 secs at £1387, the guy I bought it off laughed because there were 2 bidders increasing the bids in £5 increments. It got to £1367 in last 10 secs and I put the maximum I'd have paid for it and won it by £20. I test rode it and had a good check over yesterday. Bit lumpy at low speeds but the guy has put a K&N air filter and a TOR can and not changed the map. Easy peasy to do mind.

It's certainly one of the bikes ive been leaning toward mate, especially if I can get some heated grips and paniers thrown in for good measure.

My only issue would be youre effectively riding a car its so wide :D

with the panniers, definitely! although i think the triumph ones are only slightly wider than the mirrors?

but the bars are only 4cm wider on the Sprint than on the Daytona, 71cm vs 75cm on the bar ends, assuming you will be removing the mirrors which is de rigeur for a Red-mobile ;-)
not sure what they are on the your Duc, but that should still give you plenty of gap squeezing ability.... hasn't stopped me

  17. I was speaking to a guy on Facebook selling a 2005 1050 Sprint for less than £2000 with luggage. I would have had it but couldn't be arsed going to Lancashire for it to be honest.

Received today after a few ppl's recommendations. Fit is a bit snug at the mo but I'm sure the padding will wear in .
