Just got a nice tail tidy for the S1 and standard plate looks a bit large. Want to avoid unwanted attention from the boys in blue so just wondered what size is best balance between looks and keeping the fuzz at bay.

Go down 1 inch in either direction and keep the font the same size.

    Or move to America...

No probs, I can't remember if you had to specify the outline?!double check mate. Looks better with it IMO.

Just checked, you need to specify the border! With your plate number.

Was talkin to a plate maker the other day about bikes whilst he was doing the private plates on my new car and he said there is a lot of mis info about plate size, now I cant quote the exact measurements he gave but said so long as the letters were a legal font and legal size and had the correct spacing and border area around them the size of the plate was irrelevant but it has to have the makers code on it, also obviously he said one line plates are a no no - sorry I cant be more specific but obviously if you have less letters in your reg you can go slightly smaller! I'm sure it would be easy to find the legal font size/ spacing and border size as laid down by the DVLA and then if the boys in blue got stroppy and you were within the prescribed perameters they couldnt make any shite stick! But saying all that iv never had a problem with my bike plate even when on a "Routine Stop" the law decided to measure it just to be awkward as after asking me if it was a standard size and I replied in all honesty tohim that it was slightly smaller but still legal at 8.5"X6.5" he got his tape out and made a big thing about measuring it whilst talking down to me like I was some 16 yr old. And of course when I asked why he was using the tone and attitude I got some smug smart arse reply about police riders being highly trained experts etc etc. Not being one to gloat but I jumped on this straight away and told him about the expert police rider I was called out to put in the back of my ambulance after he had laid his big fat bike down on a bend whilst obviously travelling far in excess of his or his bikes capability owing to the wet conditions and smashing his knee on the kerb in the process!!! Needless to say the tape was placed back in the rear pannier and I was told to go on my way.
