    Evening all,

I've recently started track days and am enjoying the freedom of being on track, however I'm finding it difficult to judge when it's time to change those tyres..

I'm currently running birdgsestonw R10s on my track bike and I've got a feeling I'm getting close to needing a new set as I'm almost down to the wear bars but how much further can u take the tyre??

I have seen people take tyres down to slick before changing I personally would change them a bit before that. Touching the wear bar is still fine for me, maybe another half day. Tyres = confidence though so change them when ever you feel there gone otherwise you'll be thinking about it on track when you've better things to do.

  3. Better safe than sorry I'd be changing that one

  4. You've maybe got £5 of tyre there you haven't used. If you take it out and crash your bike you'll be pissed off you tried to save £5.

Well past its best, would definitely change it. You will start feeling it slip and slide coming out of corners etc

I'd change, especially if you're getting that feeling. Can always keep it as a spare for future

It depends on the profile just as much as the wear - if it's no longer a smooth radius all the way across then I'd change it

I think the very fact that you're asking the question is enough TBH.....if you don't have faith in them standing still, how are you expected to have faith in them hurtling around the track with that on your mind??
Better to be safe than sorry....as mentioned, you don't have another full day left in them, and the last thing you want to be doing is sitting around waiting for new tyres and wasting track time.

OR....take them out and post back up afterwards, let us know how crashing feels....your call.

    Enjoy your trackday.

  9. I run R10s and tend to change them when theyre on the wear markers. I'm certain I could get more from them but you can feel them start to move about a touch (admittedly I may just be getting faster over the course of the day) when they are that far down. Better safe than sorry in my book.

As @George29 said, it depends on the profile of the tyre too. I find I get a 'flat' patch in the radius on the right when they wear down....this is a good time to change too

I'm on my last set of R10s now (1 front to 2 rears) before I go to Supercorsa's
